ACADIA NATIONAL PARK, Maine — A 15-year-old boy suffered a head injury Saturday while riding a bicycle with a group of Boy Scouts in Acadia National Park.

The boy, whose name was not released, apparently lost control of his bicycle on a carriage trail and then struck a tree, according to a park ranger. He was wearing a helmet.

The teenager lost consciousness briefly at the scene of the accident near the Jordan Pond House and was later taken by ambulance to Mount Desert Island hospital.

His medical condition was not available Sunday, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening, the ranger said.
