Police charge teen with drug violations

By Judy Harrison, BDN Staff

Holden police Friday charged an Eddington teenager with possession of a usable amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officer Chris Greeley said Saturday that he stopped a car driven by Michael C. McLaughlin, 18, for a possible registration violation. As he approached the car about 7:30 p.m., the smell of marijuana “came wafting out the driver’s window.”

McLaughlin, who had a juvenile female passenger in the car, said he had smoked the drug and gave Greeley a plastic bag of a green leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana, Greeley said.

The female was not charged, but Greeley said neither she nor McLaughlin was able to show him proper identification.

McLaughlin is scheduled to appear on the two civil violations on July 22 at the Penobscot Judicial Center.
