ALFRED, Maine — Police have destroyed five explosive devices found in the trunk of a man’s car at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford where the vehicle’s owner was undergoing surgery for injuries from an explosion at his home.

Authorities planned to search Robert Infante’s Alfred home, where the explosion took place Friday morning. The Portland Press Herald says police found other explosives at the home.

Federal agents have obtained an arrest warrant for Infante on charges of possessing a destructive device.

Infante was undergoing surgery after he suffered a severe hand injury in the explosion.
