The Maine Games will be conducting six events on Saturday and Sunday at venues in Waldoboro, Lewiston, and Portland.
On Saturday, the Maine Games kicks off with its state cross country championships at Medomak Valley High School, at 320 Manktown Road in Waldoboro at 9 a.m. In addition, the Medomak Mile is being offered for kids under 14 at 10 a.m. Registration starts at 8 a.m..
A new “Renegade” wheelchair division is also being offered, and several of these all-terrain wheelchairs will be put to the test on the course starting at 8:30 a.m.
In Lewiston, at the armory building at 65 Central Ave., the Maine Games fencing championships, as well as the table tennis championships will be held. Fencers must provide their own equipment, and be proficient in either foil, epee, saber, or electric foil events. Male and female, as well as youth divisions, will be offered.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. and competition begins at 10 a.m. and is open to the public.
Registration at the table tennis event starts at 9 a.m. Divisions for all levels of abilities are available.
At Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland, the Maine Games is holding the fifth annual Maine Games State Adult/Open Field Hockey Championships. This is a 7-on-7 tournament without goalies. There is no admission charge.
On Sunday, at Fitzpatrick Stadium, the Maine Games State Scholastic Field Hockey Championship is being offered as well at 10 a.m.. This is a 7-on-7 tournament with goalies. Admission is free.
