MACHIASPORT – Doris A. Ackley, 86, died June 23, 2010, in Robbinston. She was born Dec. 22, 1923, in Cutler, the daughter of the late Frank and Maude (Lincoln) Ackley. Doris was a member of DAVA No. 22, Medway, as well as a member of American Legion Auxillary No. 41, Milo. Also, throughout her life, she participated as a member of Holmes Bay Farm Bureau and National Bridge Grange, Cutler. She enjoyed being outdoors and taking care of her gardens. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Harold Ackley, in 2005; as well as her six sisters and five brothers; also a son, Nelson Ackley. She is survived by her son, Andrew Ackley and his wife, Brenda, of Brownville Junction; her daughter, Pauline Doucette of Calais; her brother, Freddie Ackley of Saco; grandchildren, Debbie, Kevin, Raymond, Charlene and Wayne; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Courtney, Patrick, Heather, Casey, Crystal and Christie; stepgranddaughter, Michelle Lape; and great-grandchild, Matthew. The family extends their gratitude to Debbie and the staff at Robertson Bridge Home for their wonderful care and support for Doris. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, at Jacksonville Cemetery, Jacksonville.
