MILLINOCKET – Peter A. Cummings, 67, died June 21, 2010, at Millinocket Regional Hospital. He was born Jan. 5, 1943, in Millinocket. He attended St. Martins and Stearns High schools before enlisting in the Navy. He served aboard the USS Bexar for four years and was part of the naval blockade during the Cuban missile crisis. After the Navy, Peter attended broadcasting school and worked for many years as a DJ and in sales at various radio and TV stations in Maine. He was predeceased by his father, Hugh E. Cummings; his paternal and maternal grandparents; and a special cousin and friend, Walter Duprey Jr. He is survived by his mother, Delia Cummings of Millinocket; son, Dr. Peter Mark Cummings and his wife, Sarah F. Parker, of Boston; daughter, Shawna J. Rand and her husband, James, of Yarmouth; son, Robert Dunning and his wife, Lisa, of Bangor; daughter, Duska Dunning and her husband, Michael Robinson, of Bangor; and his many grandchildren, Ashley Dunning, Cory Dunning, Ryan Robinson, Timmy Robinson, Shaymus Rand, Jack Robinson and Fionn Parker-Cummings. Peter is also survived by his sister, Jean and her husband, Donald Chapman, of Hollis, N.H.; brother, Hugh Cummings and his wife, Peggy, of Millinocket; brother, John Cummings of Green Lake; sister, Gail and her husband, Richard Gamboa, of San Antonio, Texas; many nieces and nephews; a special uncle, Benny and aunt, Bertha Raymond; his uncle, Eddie Raymond; many cousins; and special friends, Eddy and Linda Girsa. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Friday, June 25, at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider.
