What will the BP spill mean for Maine waters?

The Gulf Stream, which begins in the Gulf of Mexico and travels north, is likely to carry the oil from the BP spill with it. The Gulf Stream heads easterly along New York’s Long Island and bypasses the Gulf of Maine. Will this put additional pressure on fisheries in

the Gulf of Maine, because local fish will be free of any toxins associated with the oil?

Will there be a boost to New England tourism, because our beaches will be free of oil? Or will the oil still find its way into our waters?
