Is the pending worker shortage good news?

A new report projects a critical shortage of educated workers will impact Maine this decade, noting that 63 percent of all jobs nationally will require post-secondary education by 2018.

Will Maine be poised to take advantage of this development with its system of community colleges and the university system? What else is needed to help educate the work force here? More technical, job-specific training opportunities? Should the state

work to create partnerships with private businesses to pay for these training programs?
