Paintball shooter targets cars in Orrington

Someone with a paintball gun shot several cars parked along Route 15 in Orrington last week, Sgt. Jon Carson, Orrington’s community policing supervisor for the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department, said on Monday.

Police in town received at least three criminal mischief reports early Friday, and Carson said he believes the cars were shot the night before but were not discovered until people left for work the next day.

The vehicles were splattered with paintball paint, which is water-soluble, so the reports list no damage, the sergeant said.

Those with information about who shot the vehicles can call the Orrington public safety office at 825-4178. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

A Bangor man was arrested last week on multiple drug charges after city police executed a search warrant at his Forest Avenue home and found 8 grams of cocaine stuffed down the back of his pants, Bangor police Lt. Tom Reagan said Monday.

During the raid, which occurred Thursday night, police also found Xanax pills, an unidentified pill and drug paraphernalia, including hypodermic needles and baking soda.

Darren Allen Mckenzie, 35, now faces charges of unlawful drug possession, violations of the conditions of his release from a prior arrest and unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs, the latter of which is a felony, Reagan said.

Reagan said additional charges may be filed because there are schools near Mckenzie’s home and because police believe that some of the items Mckenzie had in his home, including knives and other drug paraphernalia, could be stolen.

Mckenzie, who was taken to Penobscot County Jail after his arrest, since has been released on bail. (Dawn Gagnon, BDN)
