Sasha Tracy of Hermon spent Thursday night sleeping on the ground with just a pillow and blanket as she waited in front of Mark’s Music for the chance to purchase tickets for the upcoming Alan Jackson concert at the Bangor Waterfront.
“I slept right here,” she said Friday morning, pointing to a section of walkway in front of the store’s entrance.
Louann and John Rogan of Sherman — along with their dog Juliet — also showed up Thursday night to claim their spot in line.
Juliet happily sat on John Rogan’s lap Friday morning.
“She’s a diehard fan,” Rogan said with a laugh.
The line of anxious ticket buyers stretched a short way down the street, but hadn’t quite made it around the corner as of 8:30 a.m. Local country radio station Q106.5 FM was broadcasting live, and Morning Show host JR Mitchell was working the crowd as they waited for the doors to open at 9 a.m.
Kimberly Duplisea and her friend, Patty Demers, both of Millinocket didn’t spend the night on Penobscot Street in Brewer, but did arrive bright and early. By 5:15 a.m. they were sitting in line in lawn chairs. Encouraged by the crowd, Duplisea wrote on the windows of her silver pickup truck: “We love Alan!” and “Alan Jackson is hot!”
Having been born and raised in Georgia, Duplisea said she’s been a Jackson fan for a very long time.
“I’ve been a fan since the very beginning when he was playing for peanuts,” she said. “My mom lives about an hour from him.”
Alan Jackson is scheduled to perform Sept. 10 as part of the Bangor Waterfront Concert Series that was announced earlier this week.
Celtic Woman is batting leadoff for the new summer concert series with tickets (currently priced $51.50 or $61.50) already on sale for the Wednesday, July 28, show. Tickets for Jackson’s 7:30 p.m. show range from $29.50 to $79.50. Cheaper lawn seats for people at all the shows will be made available, but the price has yet to be set.
Tickets for the summer concert series are available to order online at www.thecolisee.com and at Mark’s Music at 203 Penobscot St. in Brewer, or by calling 989-6658.
