FALMOUTH, Maine — Police in Falmouth say a 16-year-old Maine boy has died in a car crash and was found by his mother, who came upon the wreck as she looked for him.

Garrett Cormier, of Portland, was killed Thursday when an SUV he was driving missed a turn, hit a tree and turned over on Blackstrap Road. He was wearing a seatbelt and the car’s airbags deployed.

Cormier had been on the way home from his girlfriend’s house.

Police Sgt. George Savidge tells the Portland Press Herald that the boy’s mother came upon the accident scene shortly after police did after going out looking for him because he hadn’t gotten home yet.
