Bangor police investigate Dunkin’ Donuts burglary

When workers showed up at the Broadway Dunkin’ Donuts early Tuesday, they discovered money was missing and called police, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said.

“An undisclosed amount of money was taken,” he said.

Workers opening up the coffee shop called police at 4:07 a.m. The restaurant is equipped with surveillance cameras, Edwards said.

“They have all the security stuff; it’s just a matter of what we can get” from the video record, he said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

A Bangor transient who was arrested at the Ramada Inn on Saturday night for violating her bail conditions was found with diverted prescription pills in her possession when she arrived at jail, and that led to two additional felony charges, Sgt. Paul Edwards said Tuesday.

Katherine Fernandes, 22, was charged around 10:30 p.m. with felony unlawful possession of drugs and trafficking in prison contraband after deputies at Penobscot County Jail found drugs on her, he said.

If convicted of either felony charge, she could face a penalty of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. Fernandes has been released, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
