Why aren’t Americans catching World Cup fever?

It is by far the most popular sport in the world, yet soccer – known as football elsewhere – draws few fans in the U.S. Is the American psyche more tuned to the hard hits and physical battles the NFL provides, or the acrobatic and dramatic dunks of the NBA? Does

soccer fail to provide enough scoring? Is the American attention span too short for soccer?

Or is the rest of the world wrong?
