AUBURN, Maine — Maine State Police said an autopsy would give them more guidance in what they’re describing as a suspicious death in Auburn.

Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Stephen McCausland said a man was found dead when police responded to a 911 call from a neighbor at 5:30 a.m. at an Auburn apartment.

McCausland said state and local police searched the apartment Monday, but that they expect to conduct more interviews. He said the state medical examiner’s office would perform an autopsy today.

Police haven’t released the identity of the victim.
