PORTLAND, Maine — Deputies have arrested a selectman from the southern Maine town of Arundel on charges of fencing stolen property and trafficking drugs.
York County Sheriff Maurice Ouellette said 63-year-old Byron Kindley received stolen property and sometimes paid for it with drugs. Kindley’s girlfriend also was charged.
Ouellette said deputies recovered $15,000 worth of stolen merchandise from their home.
Ouellette tells the Portland Press Herald that stolen items including jewelry, flat screen televisions and other electronics were given to Kindley in exchange for cash or prescription painkillers.
