Maine trade mission to go to Paris

The Associated Press

ROCKPORT, Maine — Gov. John Baldacci says Paris will be the destination of the next gubernatorial trade mission.

Baldacci said Friday that businesses, state officials and others will visit the French capital from Oct. 2-6. He made the announcement at the 30th annual Maine International Trade Day at the Samoset Resort in Rockport.

The trade mission will seek to promote Maine’s food, tourism, renewable energy and advanced materials industries by providing an opportunity for Maine companies to meet with French importers and distributors, tour operators and other potential business partners.

Maine International Trade Center President Janine Bisaillon-Cary said France is the state’s sixth largest export market, purchasing more than $64 million of products from Maine last year.
