WESLEY, Maine — An 8-year-old Wesley boy is recovering at home after being struck by a car last week on Route 9 near his home.
The child was riding his bicycle and pulled out into the path of an approaching car, at about 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, Washington County Deputy Brandon Parker reported.
“The driver was able to swerve just enough so that the side, not the front, of the vehicle hit the boy,” Parker said.
The vehicle’s driver was Albert Harvey, 56, of Baileyville, who was driving a late-model Cadillac, the deputy said.
Route 9 was closed for a brief time while LifeFlight Air Ambulance landed on the highway and took the boy to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
“He never lost consciousness, and he was treated and then released with just bumps and bruises,” Parker said, “and was home the next day.”
Parker said no charges were lodged against Harvey.
