High-speed chase leads to teen’s arrest

By Jen Lynds, BDN Staff

LUDLOW, Maine — State police who were in Ludlow investigating the report of a party on Sunday instead arrested a Houlton man after he led them on a high-speed chase.

State police Sgt. Brian Harris said Tuesday that Troopers Shawn Whalen and Carmen Lilley were called to investigate a bonfire and party on McGlinn Road. Harris said that the troopers were in the area of the party when they saw a motor vehicle violation.

The troopers attempted to stop the pickup truck driven by Christopher Lezotte, 19, of Houlton, but Lezotte instead sped out of the area, Harris said.

Whalen and Lilley pursued Lezotte from McGlinn Road to French Road in Ludlow and then to Lake Road in New Limerick where he voluntarily stopped his pickup and surrendered without incident, according to the sergeant.

Speeds during the pursuit reached 80 mph, Harris said.

Lezotte was arrested and charged for eluding an officer, failure to stop and operating after suspension.
