HERMON, Maine — Snowman Printing and REMM Financial Services are gearing up to start construction on an expansion expected to create up to 10 new jobs at their facility in the Cold Brook Business Park.

Ron Harriman, the town’s economic development director, said the 7,450-square-foot expansion is being funded in part by a $250,000 federal Community Development Block Grant.

The companies’ 27,500-square-foot headquarters are located at 1 Printer’s Drive.

Though a final dollar figure for the project, which is in the design phase, was not immediately available, Harriman said Snowman and REMM would “more than match” the grant total by the time the project is completed this fall.

“It’s an exciting project for the community because [Snowman Printing] was the first business to go into the Cold Brook Business Park. Now they are undergoing a major expansion,” Harriman said.

He said the jobs, which require a relatively high level of training and security clearances, will be created over the next few years.

In April, Snowman and REMM announced that they had acquired the assets of Eagle Quest Solutions and rebranded it as Eagle Direct.

Together the companies will continue to offer financial equipment, secure statement printing, financial processing supplies, custom printing, rubber stamps, complete graphic design services, imaging supplies, office supplies and mailing and fulfillment services, according to a press re-lease issued in April.

“Since the beginning, we’ve pushed the envelope to offer everything a customer needs to conceive, create, design, print, mail and process quality printed material,” Ed Armstrong, founder and president of Snowman Printing and REMM Financial Services, said at the time of the acquisi-tion. “With the addition of [Eagle Quest’s] capabilities, we are now able to offer our customers an even more complete suite of services.”

Eagle Quest founder David Blaisdell, who has nearly 30 years of experience in the financial services equipment, supplies and printing fields, agreed.

“We’ve been looking for a partner that could take us to the next step and also shared our commitment to customer service. Snowman Printing and REMM Financial Services are clearly a leader in the industry and on the leading edge of technology,” he said.

“At the same time, they have managed to maintain a fiercely loyal and growing group of customers,” he said.

As a result of the acquisition, Eagle Direct will enable Snowman Printing and REMM Financial Services to offer Eagle Directs’ full suite of financial equipment, products and services. In addition, the Eagle Direct’s state-of-the-art e-commerce system will provide customers with an easy-to-use online ordering system.

Harriman said the expansion project is slated to go out to bid this summer.
