Presque Isle woman arrested in Easton burglary

EASTON, Maine — Brandy J. Pelkey, 32, of Presque Isle was arrested Thursday and charged with Class B burglary, Class B theft and drug charges in connection with a burglary that occurred May 24 in Easton, according to the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday.

Owners of the Houlton Road residence reported the burglary on May 25. Deputy Ross McQuade found entry to the home had been gained by smashing the front sliding glass door.

The homeowners reported that jewelry, Elvis memorabilia, cooking utensils and money totaling approximately $10,000 in value were stolen.

McQuade and Detective Daniel Robertson investigated, and executed a search warrant May 27 at Pelkey’s apartment on State Street in Presque Isle, where police found about $9,500 worth of the stolen property.

Deputies also found illegal drugs and paraphernalia at the scene, according to the Sheriff’s Department press release.

Pelkey was arrested at the scene and later taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton where she is being held on $5,000 cash bail. She is scheduled to appear on July 22 in Caribou Superior Court.

Police are continuing the investigation to determine whether anyone else was involved in the burglary.

Class B offenses are punishable by up to 10 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine.

Presque Isle police Detective William Scull assisted the Sheriff’s Department with the execution of the search warrant.
