BANGOR, Maine — The Bangor Daily News is pleased to announce changes in the responsibilities of nine editors in order to better serve our readers online and in print. These editors help oversee a staff of 52 reporters, photographers, page designers and graphic artists.

Rick Levasseur has been named state editor and will work to boost coverage and readership in Aroostook County, Down East, the midcoast and other parts of Maine. Levasseur started his career at the BDN in 1979 as a part-time district correspondent covering the Fort Kent area. Since moving to Bangor in 1984, he has worked as a reporter, copy editor, feature writer, assistant editor, assignment editor and night news editor. He has won several Maine Press Association awards.

Timothy Allen has been named city editor and is responsible for coverage of Bangor, Brewer and other communities in Penobscot County. He also will oversee coverage of Piscataquis County, the Pittsfield area and the University of Maine. Allen has held a variety of reporting and editing jobs at Maine newspapers since the late 1970s. He joined the BDN in 1998, working as an assistant copy desk chief and later an assignment editor responsible for business, health care, politics, the environment and coverage of the Millinocket and Dover-Foxcroft regions.
