BANGOR, Maine — City police have released traffic and parking details for the Memorial Day parade, which will make its way through downtown Monday morning.
The parade will stage on Exchange Street and in the Kenduskeag Plaza parking lot at 9:30 a.m., Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said in a news release issued Thursday.
Exchange Street will be closed to vehicle traffic at 9:45 a.m. as parade units begin to line up, Edwards said. Streets along the parade route will close at 10:15 a.m.
Diagonal parking spots along Main and Central streets will be posted no-parking, and parts of those two streets will be roped off to discourage spectators from pushing into the roadway after 8:30 a.m.
Edwards said the parade would depart from York and Exchange streets and travel across Harlow Street to Central Street, down Central Street to Main Street, through the intersection at Union Street and end at Davenport Park, where a brief memorial service will be conducted.
He said the section of Main Street that runs between Union and Railroad streets will remain closed until the memorial service concludes about noon. As soon as the parade passes through the intersection of Main and Union streets and spectators begin to clear out, all barricades will be removed and streets will be reopened to traffic.
