GRAY, Maine — Maine state police say a man suspected of shooting a man in the head during a home invasion in Gray has been arrested at a rental cabin along Roosevelt Trail in Windham.

Officials say members of the State Police Tactical Team captured John A. Brown on Monday evening. The 52-year-old has no known address and is a suspect in the nonfatal shooting just before 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Officials say the suspect went to the Gray home on Route 26 and tied up Harold Small before the victim was beaten with a blunt object and then shot in the head.

Small freed himself and called for help from a neighbor’s house.

Police say Brown will be charged with attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault and robbery.

Officials say Brown has served time in prison for violent crimes.
