BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police arrested a Brewer man Monday afternoon after homeowners on Birch Street returned home to find the man in their bathroom.

Charged with burglary and criminal threatening is Eric J. Becker, 29.

Police reported that the homeowners had left for about 45 minutes and when they returned home at 3:15 p.m. noticed someone run into their bathroom as they walked into the house.

The male homeowner approached the man and asked what he was doing, police said. The suspect made a threatening statement and ran from the house with the homeowner in pursuit. The homeowner was unable to catch the suspect, but officers responding to the scene quickly did in the Essex Street area and he was subsequently arrested, police reported.

Becker remained in Penobscot County Jail this morning.
