UMS expands online resource

The Associated Press

BANGOR, Maine — A new Web-based resource that will be the main gateway for University of Maine System online programs and related student support services is being unveiled.

Chancellor Richard Pattenaude will announce OnlineMaine at a UMaine system trustees meeting at Fort Kent on Sunday and Monday.

OnlineMaine will be important in expanding the number of online programs and access to those programs for Maine residents. It’s an outgrowth of the university system’s initiative to economize and reshape itself for the future.

University College, which oversees many of the seven-campus system’s distance learning activities, will administer OnlineMaine.

Other items on the trustees’ agenda include the fiscal 2011 budget and reappointment of the chancellor.

The trustees’ agenda can be viewed online at www.maine.edu/pdf/committeescheduleandagendaMay2010.pdf.
