OAKFIELD – Edward H. Burton, 82, died May 15, 2010, in Bangor. He was born Sept. 22, 1927, son of Robert and Ethel (Ross) Burton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, was a member of Frank B. Holden Post No. 52, Oakfield, and retired from the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad. He is survived by three sisters and one brother, Robert Burton of Houlton, Evelyn Johnston of Oakfield, Betty Ivey of Houlton and Shirley Spellman of Bryson City, N.C.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Oscar and Chester; sisters, Joyce Burton, Gladys Brown and Doris Grass; half sisters, Josephine Melville Flewelling, Esther Shives and Ruth Wheeler; and a half brother, Laurel Gardiner. Friends may call noon-1 p.m. Wednesday at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, with funeral services being held 1 p.m., with the Rev. Paul Hovda officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, care of Bowers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 579, Houlton, ME 04730.
