WATERVILLE, Maine — Funeral services are being held for a soldier from Maine who died in Afghanistan.

The funeral for 21-year-old Army Spc. Wade Slack is taking place Sunday at Blessed Hope Adventist Church in his hometown of Waterville. Gov. John Baldacci has ordered that U.S. and Maine flags be flown at half staff until sunset.

Slack was killed May 9 by indirect fire from a rocket or mortar fired by insurgents. He was with the U.S. Army’s 707th Ordnance Battalion from Fort Lewis, Wash.
