LILY BAY TOWNSHIP, Maine — Tammie Cowette, 48, of Athens, received head and chest injuries when she lost control of her vehicle Friday afternoon on the Spencer Bay Road, police said.

Cowette was taken by ambulance to Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital in Greenville where she was being evaluated Friday afternoon, according to Deputy Gary Decker of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department.

The woman requested that no information be made available about her condition, according to a hospital spokesman.

Cowette was headed to Spencer Bay at about 1:30 p.m. when she lost control of her 1996 Ford Bronco on a freshly graveled road and the vehicle rolled over into a ditch, Decker said.

Decker said Cowette was wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred.
