Maine woman guilty in bat attack on husband

The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine — A Maine jury has found a 48-year-old woman guilty of beating her husband with a baseball bat and then shooting herself to make it look like a home invasion.

Linda Dolloff of Standish was taken into custody Tuesday after a Cumberland County jury found her guilty on charges of attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault and filing a false report.

Prosecutors told jurors that Dolloff attacked her husband in his sleep on April 12, 2009, because she was afraid of losing her idyllic lifestyle if her husband divorced her.

But her attorney said an intruder beat Jeffrey Dolloff and shot her. Jeffrey Dolloff remembers nothing of the attack.
