ELLSWORTH – Alicia Beers, 78, passed away May 8, 2010, at her home. She was born May 12, 1931, in McAdam, New Brunswick, daughter of Ralston and Martha (Hawthorne) Vail. Alicia moved to Maine in her early 20s, but remained a Canadian citizen, which she held great pride in. Alicia worked at Rexall Drug Stores in both McAdam, New Brunswick, and Ellsworth. She later worked 19 years at Mr. Paperback. Alicia will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her unconditional love for so many. We will never forget her homemade socks and mittens. In addition to her parents, Alicia was predeceased by her husband, Ralph; three sisters and four brothers. She is survived by her sister, Hazel Brown of Fredericton, New Brunswick; her son, Richard Beers and wife, Elizabeth, of Raymond; her daughter and best friend, Brenda Beal of Ellsworth; and adopted son, Del Lymburner. She is also survived by her special grandson, Shawn Beers; three special great-grandchildren, Dakota, Taylor and Bailey Beers; as well as many nieces and nephews. Alicia also leaves special friends, Patti Porter, Leslie Spencer, Ginny Lindsay and Sally Hobbs; and her beloved cat, Betty Lilly. The family thanks Hancock County Homecare and Hospice nurses Joyce and Emma for their loving care and support. Also, a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lee Haynes and Dr. Charles Hendericks for the very special care they provided to Mum throughout the years. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth, with Pastor Bob Maddocks officiating.
