Baldacci touts Maine’s aid efforts

The Associated Press

AUGUSTA, Maine — Gov. John Baldacci says Maine is prepared to offer assistance when help is needed elsewhere.

In his weekly radio address Saturday, the governor said two Maine businesses — Hannaford supermarkets and Poland Spring bottled water company — sent water to Massachusetts after a water main broke in the Boston area last weekend, putting drinking water in short supply.

And now the Portland-based Maine Responder oil spill cleanup vessel is on its way to help with the oil spill cleanup efforts in the Gulf of Mexico.

Baldacci said Maine “stands ready” to respond and offer any help when needed.
