Looking for a grown-up laugh? Check out one of two shows at the historic Bangor Opera House Saturday, May 8, for a big bowl of Comedy Chowdah. The first show is at 5 p.m., the second is at 8 p.m.

The event will feature six of Maine’s funniest stand-up comedians, including Brian Brinegar, Erik Gundersen, Adam Hatch, Troy Pennell and Tuck. George Hamm will be the headliner. Hamm has performed across the country and opened for acts such as Jay Mohr, Robert Schimmel, Bob Marley, Kevin Nealon and others. “The nice thing about the show is that it’s a total of six comics and George Hamm is the headliner. Everybody has a different style,” said local stand-up comic Adam Hatch. “There’s guys like myself who have been doing this for five years, Erik Gundersen who’s been doing it for two, and some who have been at it for 10 years plus.”

Tickets are $15 per person and are available through the Penobscot Theatre Company box office at the Bangor Opera House, 131 Main St., Bangor, by calling the box office at 942-3333 or visiting www.penobscottheatre.org.

Tickets can be picked up the night of the show, but Hatch recommends getting them early because they’re expecting two sell-out shows.

“All these guys are really amazing comics, so it’s really going to be a great show,” said Hatch.
