What is likely to be the source of the attempted Times Square bomb?

A bomb that would have blown up an SUV in New York’s Times Square over the

weekend is reminding New Yorkers and others of the 9/11 attacks. Early in the

investigation, law enforcement officials have said they have video of a white man who

may have been involved. At the same time, the Pakistani Taliban group is claiming

responsibility for the attempt. Given that there is limited information now, what is your

best guess: domestic terrorist or Islamic extremist? Why? Will the Department of

Homeland Security’s prediction of more “homegrown” terrorism come to fruition? Or

should this event spur stepped-up intelligence and interdiction in countries like Pakistan?
