CARIBOU, Maine — A local man was arrested and charged with arson in connection with a fire at a mobile home Sunday morning at 557 Access Highway.

Bradley Taggett, 34, is expected to make his initial court appearance today or Tuesday. It is not yet known in which court he will make his appearance. He was unable to post bail of $25,000 cash and is being held at Aroostook County Jail.

State Fire Marshal Tim Lowell said the fire at 4:45 a.m. damaged the exterior of a mobile home on Access Highway. The homeowners managed to put out the fire before Caribou firefighters arrived, he said. It is unknown whether the owners of the home were insured.

The fire was caused by intentional human element, according to Lowell, who declined to speak further on the case, which is under investigation.
