CASTINE, Maine — More than 200 degrees are being awarded to graduates of Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday at the school’s 67th commencement.

School officials say 205 degrees are being awarded to graduates who come from 20 states, as well as Puerto Rico, China, Jamaica, Kenya, Kuwait and South Africa.

U.S. 2nd District Rep. Mike Michaud is the commencement speaker and will receive an honorary doctorate from the college. Maine Maritime President Leonard Tyler says the Democratic congressman is a champion of education and veterans’ services and an advocate for the college’s interests.
