BAR MILLS — Wayne Newton will star in an upcoming feature length film titled “40 West,” currently filming at the Saco River Grange Hall in Bar Mills and in locations in Buxton and Hollis. The film is written and produced by Honey Tree Films, a local production company founded in 1998 by Mainers Dana Packard and Jennifer Porter.

Newton, best known for his 30,000-plus concerts in Las Vegas and for hits like “Danke Schoen,” has made cameo appearances in other films, including “Ocean’s Eleven” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” A press released from the Saco River Grange Hall describes “40 West” as a taut, character-driven thriller, set to be released in 2011.

Newton also will appear in an upcoming reality television show titled “Wayne’s World,” to air on WeTV. The show will follow Newton, his wife and mother-in-law in the wake of the performer’s recent financial troubles. An air date hasn’t been set for the show.
