GRAY, Maine — The office of the Maine Medical Examiner says the deaths of a father and son in Gray was a murder-suicide.

The state police say that 44-year-old Daniel McLatchie shot his 22-year-old son Benjamin McLatchie in the head with a shotgun and then shot himself.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the McLatchies’ Gray home Tuesday afternoon after receiving a 911 call police believe was made by Daniel McLatchie.

Police say two notes were found inside the house.

Police have said Benjamin McLatchie was autistic and his father may have been worried about who would care for his him after he and his wife died.
