BANGOR – The stars of the documentary film, “The Way We Get By,” about three local senior citizens who are part of the Bangor Troop Greeters, are featured in the May 10 edition of People Magazine.

The article, “Warm Welcome,” includes photographs of Bill Knight, Joan Gaudet and Jerry Mundy greeting troops at Bangor International Airport and interviews with the three subjects of the movie, which won a host of documentary film awards in 2009.

Knight, Gaudet and Mundy discuss the recent milestone of the one millionth troop greeted at the airport, and the benefits of being a troop greeter.

“It feels like you’re doing your small part for the country,” Gaudet told People writer Jennifer Wren.

“The Way We Get By was directed by Gaudet’s son, Old Town native Aron Gaudet, and produced by Gita Pullapilly.

Aron Gaudet and Pullapilly were married last fall in Stockton Springs.

The article should get quite a bit of attention, considering the troop greeters’ company in the May 10 People issue. The cover features Academy Award-winning actress Sandra Bullock, who discusses for the first time her recent adoption of a baby and her divorce from celebrity motorcycle builder Jesse James.
