Woman dies after crashing car into Rockland storefront

ROCKLAND, Maine — An 85-year-old woman who drove into a Main Street storefront has died. Police continue to investigate the accident.

According to an obituary, Marie Quinn of Vinalhaven died Friday, April 23, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor as a result of injuries from the accident.

On April 10, Quinn was turning off School Street onto Main Street when her car went over a sidewalk and smashed into the storefront, knocking out bricks under The Grasshopper Shop’s window.

Quinn left the wreck with facial fractures and was bleeding. She was taken to Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport and then was transferred to EMMC.

Rockland police are waiting for a report from the state medical examiner’s office to help with the investigation. Officer William Smith and Sgt. Kevin Smith are working on the case.
