MACHIAS, Maine — Five people were arrested over the weekend in Machias, three of them following a fight Sunday night.
Machias Police Chief Grady Dwelley said police received a call about a party in a trailer park on Armstrong Road about 7 p.m. Sunday.
Officers were busy checking the welfare of an elderly man and pursuing a domestic incident and were unable to immediately respond.
By 8:30 p.m., several 911 calls were received about a fight at the party, Dwelley said.
“When we arrived, there were five or six people outside a trailer and all were underage and all were intoxicated,” Dwelley said.
Arrested were the trailer residents, Derek Bryant, 19, and Ashley Roberts, 19, for furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol. Ashley Anthony, 21, was arrested for furnishing liquor to a minor.
Dwelley said a fourth person, a juvenile, will be charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.
Dwelley said a person who allegedly was assaulted was the guardian of a minor attending the party and had gone to the event to check on the juvenile.
“That assault remains under investigation,” Dwelley said.
The investigation of the incident will likely result in additional persons being charged, he said.
Dwelley was assisted at the scene by Officer Richard Strout and Maine State Police Trooper Miles Carpenter.
Two other weekend arrests included Gregory Antil, 44, of Northfield, who was arrested Saturday night and charged with domestic assault and obstructing the report of a crime.
Antil’s victim was treated for her injuries at Down East Community Hospital and later released.
Also arrested was a 17-year-old male for operating while under the influence on Drisko Street.
