NEWPORT, Maine — A man who police say robbed a TD Bank branch here last month has been arrested in New Hampshire, but not before he allegedly brought his bank robbery total over the past few weeks to five.

Bo H. Rodden, 19, of Berwick was arrested late Wednesday night in Dover, N.H., according to Newport Police Department Lt. Randy Wing. Rodden is being held at Strafford County Jail in Dover on $200,000 bail, a jail booking officer said Thursday. If Rodden makes bail, he will be required to wear a tracking device so authorities will always know where he is.

Rodden allegedly entered the Newport TD Bank just after it opened on March 31 and passed a note to a teller that demanded cash. Rodden fled the scene, possibly in a red sedan seen by a witness, and has been sought by police ever since.

Wing said Thursday that the investigation accelerated with information provided by an agent for the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. Wing, with assistance from Maine State Police, spent most of Tuesday investigating the case in southern Maine and New Hampshire.

Rodden, who allegedly robbed two banks in New Hampshire on Tuesday, was arrested late Wednesday night by officers from the Dover, N.H., Police Department.

Rodden is being held on a drug charge and two counts of robbery.

A second man who police say was involved in some of the robberies, Christopher Hildreth, 22, of Kittery, was arrested in Kittery early Thursday morning, according to Dover, N.H., Police Department Lt. David Terlemezian. While Terlemezian declined to discuss details about the case, he said the two men are believed to be involved in bank robberies in the New Hampshire towns of Dover, Farmington, Stratham and Rollinsford. Terlemezian would not say whether Hildreth was involved in the Newport heist.

None of the stolen money has been recovered.

Hildreth is being held in York County Jail on the charge of robbery. Terlemezian said the investigation is still open and urged anyone with information to contact their local police department.

β€œIt’s still an active investigation,” he said.
