ROCKLAND, Maine — A 19-year-old woman was arrested Sunday and charged with trafficking in Ecstasy in Rockland.

Police said Sadie Knight, whom they described as a transient resident of Rockland, was found Sunday afternoon with 63 tablets of the drug Ecstasy in her possession along with $300 cash and an unloaded handgun. She was taken to the Knox County Jail and charged with one count of trafficking in Ecstasy, a Class B crime pun-ishable by up to 10 years in prison.

According to a report written by James Pease, special agent supervisor of the Midcoast Regional Task Force Office for the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, someone called the police in late March and said that a woman identified as Knight was selling Ecstasy on Camden Street.

On April 10, another person, called the “cooperative individual” in the report, told police the woman had at least 40 tablets of Ecstasy in her possession. The individual specified Knight and said that “she had been meeting people around the Burger King, Circle K area [of] Camden Street to sell them,” according to Pease’s re-port. The individual also told police that Knight was selling the drug out of a Rockland apartment.

MDEA agents learned on Sunday, April 11, that Knight was making deliveries of the drug.

At about 3:40 that afternoon, Rockland police Officer William Smith noticed Knight sitting in a car in a parking lot with “a large amount of cash in her hand.” He asked her to put her hands where he could see them, Pease’s report said.

“Knight was observed violently shoving her hands down her pants,” Pease’s report stated. When Smith asked Knight to show her hands again, she did not obey.

“This led officer Smith to believe that she was trying [to] conceal drugs in her,” Pease wrote in his report.

Smith told Knight to hand over the drugs from her pants.

Knight then pulled out a condom containing 63 Ecstasy tablets. Smith also found more than $300 in her possession and a .22-caliber handgun in the back seat of the car, which was identified as Knight’s gun.

Smith and MDEA special agent Kirk Guerrette arrested Knight and brought her to Knox County Jail.

An MDEA press release said Knight allegedly is one of several Ecstasy dealers who work together in Rockland.

The drugs are worth about $1,600, according to the MDEA.

Knight’s bail was set at $500. She remained in jail as of Monday evening.
