JOSEPH C. A. ‘CHUCK’ HAMEL

CARMEL – Joseph C. A. “Chuck” Hamel, 84, passed away April 8, 2010, at his home. He was born March 2, 1926, in Milford, son of the late Joseph A. and Elgie W. (Kelley) Hamel. Joseph served with honor in World War II, serving in India and Burma. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending endless hours puttering on his cars. He is survived by son, Tom and his wife, Nan Hamel, of Waltham and their children, Bronya Hamel of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Travis and his wife, Sarah Hamel, of Hermon; also the children of son, Gary and Linda (Haas) Hamel, Brad Hamel of Normal, Ill., and Joshua Hamel of El Paso, Ill. He is also survived by brothers, Raymond, James and David Hamel of Milford and Arthur Hamel of Greenbush; sister, Ella Rackliff of Milford; uncle, Edward Hamel of Bangor; aunt, Delia Trimm of Bradley; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be fondly remembered by Chad and Krissy Ryan; his many close friends and his extended family. He was predeceased by his wife, Madeline (Rodrigue) Hamel; son, Gary Hamel; brothers, Alfred and Arthur Edward; and sisters, Mary, Beatrice and Frances. At his request there will be no viewing. Memorial service to be announced at a later date. He will be accompanied by his best friends, dogs, Babes and April.
