At Salem, Mass., John Carey hit three singles and drove in three runs as the University of Southern Maine at Gorham topped Salem State College.
Joe Curran pitched six innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks for the Huskies. Andrew deBethune, Dustin Stanton and Mark Schmidt provided scoreless relief. Tucker White and Collin Henry each singled twice.
Ryan Kane homered, doubled and singled to lead Salem State. Sam Perkins doubled.

At Brunswick, Reid Auger homered and doubled with two RBIs and two runs scored in helping Bow-doin College defeat Thomas College of Waterville.
Brendan Garner doubled three times and scored three runs for the Polar Bears. Kevin Zikares doubled and drove in two runs. Joe Comizio and Dan Findley each scored two runs.
Tom Costa singled twice for Thomas and Ben Goodall had a single and two runs scored.

At Standish, Pat Moran hit a one-out single to left field in the eighth inning, scoring Todd Keneborus from second, and leading St. Joseph’s College past Framingham State College of Massachusetts.
Monks’ Mike Burdin hit a three-run home run in the third and Ben Grant-Roy added a two-run homer in the fourth. Keneborus had two triples and two singles with three runs scored. Moran totaled two sin-gles and three RBIs.
Steven Tramontozzi led the Rams with two doubles and four RBIs. William Crofton added a double, two singles and three runs scored.

SOFTBALL
Salem State sweeps USM

At Salem, Mass., the University of Southern Maine at Gorham had the tying run on third and the go-ahead run on second in the seventh, but failed to capitalize at Salem State College won the nightcap 3-2.
The Vikings also won the first game 9-1.
In the first game, Katelynn Fanning allowed one unearned run in six innings, giving up three hits and two walks while striking out six for Salem State. Taylor Orlando homered with four RBIs. Jess Baird added two singles and three RBIs.
Melissa Caiazzo singled and knocked in a run for the Huskies. Cerise Humphrey had a single and a run scored.
In the second game, Amanda Scola homered and singled for the Vikings. Baird added two doubles and an RBI.
Caiazzo doubled, singled and drove in two runs to lead Southern Maine. Katie Davis singled twice.

Bowdoin sweeps UM-Farmington
At Farmington, Kara Nilan pitched six innings of one-hit relief as Bowdoin College of Brunswick took a 1-0 win over the University of Maine at Farmington in the opener.
The Polar Bears also took the second game 6-4.
In the first game, Bowdoin’s Nilan allowed no runs after taking over in the second. She walked two and struck out seven. Hillary Smyth drove in Lauren Coven with a double in the second. Nilan singled twice.
Jessica Timmreck allowed one unearned run on six hits and two walks in seven innings in taking the loss for the Beavers. She struck out one.
In the second game, Gen Barlow homered and Shavonne Lord hit an RBI double in seventh to give Bowdoin the win. Coven doubled and singled and Smyth doubled with two RBIs.
Rachel Clement doubled, tripled and scored a run for UM-Farmington. Timmreck singled twice and Emily Coye doubled and drove in a run.

Maine Maritime 26, Thomas 5

At Waterville, Christopher Keiley had six goals and Richard McKee and Tom Houle had four apiece as Maine Maritime Academy of Castine cruised past Thomas College.
Dennis St. Pierre and Wade Mondoux both scored three goals for the 3-3 Mariners. Andrew DiSalvo had two goals and three assists. Justin Genest had two goals and an assist. Toddy Murphy and Mark Keene also scored. Houle, Keily, McKee and Murphy also provided three assists apiece.
Kolby Peckham and Kevin Averil each scored twice for the 1-3 Terriers. Sean Machin scored while Scott Dumas and Kolby Peckham had assists.
MMA’s Kevin Boucher saved 11 of 16 shots while Jesse Morkeski of Thomas turned away 17 of 43.
