ABBOT – Keith Albert Batchelder, 78, passed on to be with the Lord Jesus, April 4, 2010. Keith was at a Bangor hospital at the time of his passing and was surrounded by loved ones. He was born Oct. 1, 1931, in Stetson, son of Norman and Elsie (Blaisdell) Batchelder. Keith was very proud to have served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Harveson. He worked at Irving Tannery, Hartland, for many years. He really enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, wildlife and bird watching. He very much loved his family and held his friends very dear. Keith was predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years, Arlene (Russell) Batchelder; and a brother, David Batchelder. He is survived by a son and his wife, Keith Philip and Deborah Batchelder of Abbot; a foster daughter, Mary Manson of Palmyra; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Theralin Leavitt and her husband, Earl, of Palmyra, and Dorothy Turner and her husband, Hubert, of Phippsburg; three brothers, Gary Batchelder of Palmyra, Maurice Batchelder and his wife, Peggy, of Hartland, and Thomas Batchelder and his wife, Joyce, of Skowhegan; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held 4 p.m. Friday, April 23, at Corinna Village Cemetery with Pastor Jesse Stubblefield officiating.
