More state parks open early in Maine

The Associated Press

AUGUSTA, Maine — Two more Maine state parks are opening early because of good weather and high demand from the public.

Sebago Lake State Park in Casco and Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal are opening Wednesday for day use and overnight camping. Camden Hills State Park in Camden and Lake St. George State Park in Liberty opened last weekend.

Officials with the Bureau of Public Lands say most state parks typically don’t open until May.

But with the recent mild weather and relatively dry conditions, crews have been able to get the parks ready for visitors earlier than usual. At the same time, officials say state parks are drawing crowds as the warm weather drives people outdoors.
