LIVERMORE FALLS, Maine — Police in Maine say a pit bull that was subdued with a stun gun after mauling an 11-year-old boy in Livermore Falls has been euthanized.
The Sun Journal newspaper says the same dog mauled a teenager earlier this month.
Police say 32-year-old Jessica Anderson was keeping the dog for a friend. She has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and being the keeper of a dangerous dog.
Police say Anderson was gone Tuesday when the dog bit the boy’s legs and abdomen.
Lt. Thomas Gould credited neighbor Robert Roy with saving the boy’s life by beating the dog with a pole until it let go.
The boy was visiting Maine. He is hospitalized in stable condition.
Officials say Anderson asked that the dog be euthanized.
