PRESQUE ISLE – Mary A. Williams, 89, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010. She was born March 17, 1921, in Houlton, the daughter of Ernest B. and Mary (Victory) Anderson. Mary graduated from Houlton High School and Westbrook Junior College. She served in the Women’s Army Corps for three years during World War II, and married Joseph C. Williams, in 1944. She was a member of Grant Memorial United Methodist Church, past noble grand of Aroostook Rebekah Lodge and past warden of Rebekah Assembly of Maine. She was also a member of Presque Isle Curling Club, Ladies Afternoon Bowling League and Presque Isle Country Club. Surviving her are three sons, Thomas A. Williams and his wife, Cathy, of Fairfield, Richard J Williams and his wife, Corinne, of Chandler, Ariz., and Jeffery C. Williams and his wife, Danne, of Garland, Texas; a daughter, Susan A. Black and her husband, Clayton, of Castle Hill; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four great-stepgrandchildren; three brothers, Robert Anderson of Houlton, Kenneth Anderson of Florida, and Russell Anderson and his wife, Carolyn, of Idaho; and a special friend, Ella Stevens of Presque Isle. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 1979; and sisters, Ruth Tingley and her husband, Clifford, Geraldine “Gerry” Fish, and Florence Burtchell. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Grant Memorial United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to C-A-N-C-E-R, P.O.
