STEUBEN – Lou Ann Stinson Francis, 72, passed away peacefully March 21, 2010, at home. She was born April 29, 1937, to Calvin and Marion Stinson of Prospect Harbor, the youngest of six children. After graduating from Sumner High School, Lou Ann married Arnold S. Francis of Corea, June 8, 1955. While he was in the service they stayed briefly in Texas, and came back to Maine, living in Corea and Prospect Harbor, and eventually settling in Steuben, where they worked hard together to build their lobster business and watch their family grow. Lou Ann was a very caring, talented, and strong woman who loved and believed in her family more than anything else. Tennis was her passion. She was an accomplished player and loved to share her knowledge of the sport as a very enthusiastic teacher. She truly appreciated the simple things in everyday life. Lou Ann is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Arnold S. Francis; son, Gus Francis and his wife, Kim; daughter, Mimi Alley and her husband, Larry; grandchildren, Liza Fisher and her husband, Tim, Ben Alley and his wife, Aimee, Morgan Alley, Sarah Worcester and her husband, Robbie, Mary Francis and Arnold Francis Jr.; and six treasured great-grandchildren, Dillon, Liam, Ada Rose, Lucy, Jackson and Max. At Lou Ann’s request, there will be no viewing hours or funeral. A private family service will be held to celebrate her life. “We love you Nan, XOXO.”
