Burglary suspect tosses hot coffee in cop’s face

The Associated Press

FAIRFIELD, Maine — Maine police say a burglary suspect who tossed hot coffee in an officer’s face got a jolt of his own — he was zapped with a stun gun.

Police say the episode unfolded Sunday when 25-year-old Christopher Allen Edes tossed his coffee in the face of an officer who stopped his vehicle in Fairfield.

Fairfield police officer Jacob Pierce responded by shooting Edes with a stun gun as he tried to flee on foot. The officer eventually used the stun gun two more times.

Edes faces charges for failure to appear on burglary and theft charges, as well as assaulting an officer, refusing to submit to arrest and possession of marijuana.
